VISITATION REPORT

"THE STUDENTS OF ENGLISH EDUCATION PROGRAM IN COKROAMINOTO PALOPO UNIVERSITY VISITED RATONA TV 2018"

          October 20th,2018 on Saturday, the students of English education program had chance to visited one of tv station in Palapo namely Ratona TV. We were accompanied by our English for Journalism lecturer Mrs. Reski Pilu,S.Pd.,M.Pd. We visited Ratona TV because we must know all about journalism directly. Ratona TV located at Jl.K.H. Muhammad Hasyim No.54, Palopo, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
          First of all, we were introduced to Ratona building in general by Mr. Baim (one of the staff in the station), he said that Ratona had 2 floors which on the 1st floor we would find coverage division and in the 2nd floor we would see  production division.
          Next, we were going to the first floor to meet the cameraman to explained about what cameras that they used (Sony A6000, Sony Disk Cam, and handy cam), the technique of using camera (zoom in, zoom out, etc), how to take the best angel in shooting, and shared the joy and sorrow to be a cameraman.

          Not only we met the cameraman but we also met with the reporter and the script maker. The reporter should looking for a valid data for the news. The society could become a journalist or commonly known as a citizen journalist. The Reporter said that the cameraman must be work together with the reporter to get the news. five format of writing a script: 
           1. VO SOT       = First is VO then Interview. (duration: 40 seconds)
           2. VO               = Did not have a interviewees but have a valid data. It is only the dubber voice and  the picture/valid data.
           3. Package        = VO (dubber) - SOT (interview) - VO (dubber)/Closing
         4. Reader SOT = only for people in a high position like the mayor of Palopo, the head office, etc. Without dubber (duration: 1 minute 30 seconds).
           5. LOT              = Live on Tape/Live report on the spot.

          The reporter said that there are three teams in Ratona TV:
  • coverage team     : the team who are looking for the news directly.
  • production team  : also known as the editing team.
  • MCR team          : broadcasting team.

    Next, we moved to the production division. In the second floor, we met a dubber,producer, editor, and also the presenter/host.

          The last, we had a chance to directly visited the production room or the studio and we met the presenter, she was Nunu Angraini. she told us how to be a good presenter. After that some of us was given a chance to tried being a presenter.

          Last but not least, we were very grateful because we got an opportunity to add a new knowledge about the world of journalism. Thank you for all the Ratona TV team who helped us and also thank you to our English for Journalism lecturer Mrs. Reski Pilu, S.Pd.,M.Pd.
